Web Design Roundup
Posted on | July 29, 2007
Design for the web was a hobby of mine and it occasionally become part of my job duties. Since I work in a company which was mainly focused on back-end projects and had no (real) designers and no (real) money to pay for one I had to step in.
I thought it might be nice to make a roundup of nice articles and websites which helped me improve my design skills.
The following links are ordered randomly and should all be checked anyway :)
Veerle’s blog 2.0 - Great design with some nice tips.
Web Design Process - your starting point in defining the web design process.
Web Design from Scratch - Great resource for any web designer. Very nice guides featuring examples of both good and bad webdesign.
Screenalcio.us - A collection of website screenshots. Very nice for inspiration. Search by specific colour is a fantastic feature for me.
The FontFeed - A fantastic resource for typography.
A List Apart - Articles on webdesign.
Stopdesign - Great blog from a great designer which helped redesign blogger
Iconfactory - A resource for inspiration and free icons :)
Color Scheme Generator 2 - read the name. Before using it I suggest you read this.
Hope this info and links will be useful for others. I will try to update the list trough time (I have a bunch of new links already) so stay tuned.
note: I found most of this links by googling. After that I read The Principles of Beautiful Web Design (web article) and found out that it author uses pretty much the same resources. Anyway I recommend the book and/or article to anyone interested in the topic.
