This is a great example of viral badges for marketing research purposes. I saw this test on Suketu Vyas’s Blog and just could not help myself. I had to click on the badge. Then I got to a questionnaire with questions about my blogging habits. At the end of the questionnaire I got a personal badge as a reward. They got my data… I got a badge with my score :)

This might be some sort of permission marketing.

Note: I might be wrong about them collecting the data for marketing research purposes but I still feel it might be a good idea to collect research data this way.
