Augmented Reality Packaging - 3D View of What Lies Inside

Posted on | April 28, 2008

Interesting video showing an example of augmented reality, used to reveal what lies inside the package. This would be much more useful if it would be accessible from your mobile phone, with no need to download stuff.

Am I dreamig? I would say it is quite doable. There are two basic problems to solve:

  1. You would need to recognize the package - quite hard but there is already a bunch of components to reuse; don’t know how good they are :)
  2. A “huge” Amazon.com like database of all available packages, and 3D models of the stuff that is inside.

A solution like this could have a great buzz effect and enhance the chances of selling more. :)
