Why Don’t We Switch Our Focus 100% on the New Stuff?

Why Don’t We Switch Our Focus 100% on the New Stuff? That was a really smart question from a member of my team today. This question is much deeper than it might seem at first.

From time to time we would all love to close all the open projects from the past and start from scratch, but this is not possible. We just need to finish stuff we committed on first. That has both good and bad points but in the long run it is the only viable way. If you don’t close chapters they just come after you sooner or later. So even if you committed to a project you don’t loveĀ  anymore, it is a very important thing that you follow through and deliver what you promised. Only then you will be ready to move on – on even more challenging stuff.

This is similar to when you go on a mission to climb a mountain you can not clibe another mountain untill you return from that journey. Only when you return home safely you are ready to attack the next mountain.
